1965 Tourist Import SO33 LHD Westfalia Subhatch.

Imported from the States in 2017 with all paperwork present.  It then went through a sympathetic renovation over 3 years by the previous owner, this bus is a true survivor and rare original condition interior and exterior make for a great chance to own this piece of VW history.

It has the original interior as well as the original Westy checkered plaid seat covers. Original Cooler with ice box, original coat hooks, and wardrobe rail, plus all furniture present including cargo door furniture and table.

It is tax and MOT exempt but Its had MOT's on it ( four so far).

It has all bills from myself and previous owner in the U.K. and history from the previous owners in the states.

It has a reproduction BBT sun canopy.

Also an Autocraft towbar with electrics fitted, we have towed our camping trailer with no problems.

Two Autowares convex mirrors which are brilliant.

Complete new Wiring Loom courtesy of Ian at Aircooled Looms, bespoke made and fitted with blade fuse box in original position. The old wiring was too dangerous to keep.

Since my ownership serviced by VW/Porsche specialist in Cornwall. Nigel Allen VW/Porsche Garage, and Evil Bens.

Has current MOT until April 2025.

Just Serviced at Evils Bens.

Two inertia 3 point seat belts in the Front, plus an inertia lap belt. One 3 point inertia in the rear with an inertia lap belt making this bus a 5 seater all with belts. V5 states 5 seater also.

Black vinyl seat covers protecting original seat material.

Replaced sprung rear seating with foam to make a much more comfortable night sleep !

All new curtains in as close an original material as could be found, including curtain partition to cab area. Original curtain rails, including the rear and bulkhead rail.

It comes with a working 1960's Blaupuntk radio which has a jack point takeoff to attach a phone etc. Has a new speaker hidden in the dash.

The ply roof lining has delaminated in places but it’s still in place, it hasn’t worried me but either keep or use as possible template for new ? .

There is also some scratches, a slight dent and marks on the roof where I guess an old roof rack used to be, these can be sorted when the interior roof panel is repaired if required.

Exterior

In majority OG paint, rubbed back to remove the old white over green. Some small dings and scratches but nothing major and commensurate to its age. The exterior paintwork where new has been blended with old, but you have to look closely to notice. There are areas of surface rust but no rot, if that makes sense, I like the look.

Underneath is painted in L345.

I would describe the exterior as “ Patina “

Big folder of receipts and invoices plus a memory stick of photos including in the USA before it’s import, and photos of work etc including when floor was done.

There are no hidden horrors with this bus. It shows its scars and its history, Ben Lewis of Evil Bens can attest to its good condition.

4 new Commercial tyres fitted last year with very little wear.

Ive only seen 4 SO33s for sale over the last few years, one was in the Netherlands, there’s now one for sale in the States on The Samba.

The Westfalia layout no longer works for us as a family, I would consider a swap with another Split, it would need to camping ready, rock and roll bed, perhaps walkthrough, etc. WHY.
