SELLER'S NOTES
Reluctantly, I am offering for sale my '61 Split. Due to having my 1st child, I now want to prioritise safety and will be looking to 'upgrade' to a T5/T6. I have owned this bus for nearly 10 years now and bought it as a project (big project). I've had it on the road now for 7 years and it's been up and down the UK. I have many memories (including my wedding photos) from being in this bus but times change and needs must. Please find a description of my bus, as best I can. Engine, electrics and running gear 1641cc single Solex carb on Beetle IRS gearbox - the bus pulls well and sits comfortably at 60mph. I have done roughly 10k miles since 2016. Lowered and narrowed on the front beam - drives and looks well. Adjustable spring plates on the rear. CSP Front brake disc conversion. The rears are still on drums and I have fitted a dual master cylinder for piece of mind. Electrics were done by Iain at Aircooled Auto Elec (comes highly recommended). 240V hookup, hidden in engine bay Split charge relay with leisure battery. Alarm, immobiliser and tracker fitted Interior Front bench seat. 1960's Blaupunkt Bremen period radio with aux input (for mobile phones/iPod's etc) - speakers in the front door cards and in the rear overhead locker. Geek Shack dual USB hidden chargers in dash vents. Full width Rusty Lee R'n'R bed. Bespoke cabinetry by Airteriors (in my opinion, the highest quality of work out there) Upholstery (including curtains) from (formerly) Bromsgrove Auto Trimmers - again, I believe these are the best out there Vitrifrigo 12V/240V dual voltage fridge with mini freezer compartment Single gas hob and small sink unit. 240V Samsung TV mounted on remote control lifting unit (hidden in main cabinet when not in use) Buddy seat with under-seat storage Overhead locker Perforated headliner (Bromsgrove) with 3x touch LED's I think the bus drives nicely, sits nicely and runs well. Most of the above work was completed in 2016, when the bust was restored. There are imperfections (it isn't a show bus) as it's been used as it should be used for the last 7 years so please don't expect perfection (otherwise the price would be a lot more). It's a good, honest bus with nothing hidden away. I have a thick folder full of receipts from the work I have had done over my ownership. I would be open to swapping with a T5.1/T6 but obviously, would have to be the right van. Any more info wanted, please contact me (Dan) on: email - martindales_12@hotmail.com or phone - 07969 377207.
